Lumberton, N.C. (Dec. 5, 2016) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 in Lumberton to seek input on developing a management plan for Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve and Robeson County Game Land. The meeting will be held at the Robeson County Cooperative Extension Office located at 455 Caton Road, Lumberton, NC 28360.
Commission staff will use public input from the meeting to help guide management and user activities on Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve and Robeson County Game Land for the next 10 years. These game lands total 296 acres and both are located in Robeson County. Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve encompasses 256 acres and is located seven miles south of Lumberton on both sides of Andrew Jackson Highway. Robeson County Game Land encompasses 40 acres and is located 4.5 miles southwest of Fairmont. These game lands are best known for providing critical wetland habitats for numerous fish and wildlife species.
“We want a wide variety of input on these game lands, not just from hunters and anglers,” said Isaac Harrold, the Commission’s lands program coordinator. “Anyone who may be interested in how these properties are managed is invited to comment. This includes wildlife watchers and photographers, birding groups, hikers, and others who have interest in Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve and Robeson County Game Land.”
The Commission is also accepting comments and suggestions from people who cannot attend the meeting. From Dec. 14 through Jan. 13, comments regarding the Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve and Robeson County Game Land management plans can be submitted online at www.ncwildlife.org/gamelandcomments .
