Wake County is temporarily suspending operations at the Firearms Education & Training Center (FETC), effective July 1, for the planned replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The design of the new HVAC system will improve airflow, air changes, and humidity levels in the facility.
The FETC is usually closed for the month of August for its annual cleaning. The annual cleaning will be combined with the HVAC system replacement to minimize the downtime of the range. During this time, the range will be cleaned, and new HVAC equipment installed, tested, and verified before the range re-opening. Based on the current schedule, the project will start in July and conclude in the fall.
