SWANSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 21, 2016) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3 in Swansboro to seek input on developing a management plan for White Oak River Game Land. The meeting will be held at the Swansboro Parks and Recreation Department’s classroom located at 830 Main Street Extension in Swansboro.

Commission staff will use public input from the meeting to help guide management and user activities on White Oak River Game Land for the next 10 years. White Oak River Game Land, which encompasses 2,578 acres, is located north of Swansboro on Belgrade-Swansboro Road.

“This meeting is not just for hunters and anglers,” said Isaac Harrold, the Commission’s lands program coordinator. “We are seeking input from all users of the game land and anyone who may be interested in how the property is managed. This includes wildlife watchers and photographers, birding groups, hikers and anyone else who has interest in White Oak River Game Land.”

The Commission is also accepting comments and suggestions from people who cannot attend the meeting. From Oct. 24 through Dec. 16, comments regarding the White Oak River Game Land management plan can be submitted online at www.ncwildlife.org/gamelandcomments .

Comments also can be e-mailed, with “White Oak River Game Land” in the subject line, to gamelandplan@ncwildlife.org. For more information on game lands, go to www.ncwildlife.org/Hunting/Where-to-Hunt/Public-Places.
