CHERRYVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 26, 2016) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and Cleveland County recently began renovations to the 250-yard rifle range on the Foothills Public Shooting Complex in Cleveland County.
The 250-yard range, also known as Range No. 1, will remain closed during the renovations. However, the five 50-yard pistol ranges, two skeet/trap courses and the 3-D archery course will remain open.
Improvements to the range include adding ground baffles, additional aerial baffles and concrete block sidewalls. Commission staff expects the renovations to be completed by February 2017.
The Wildlife Commission is paying for the renovation with Pittman-Robertson funds and the Wildlife Endowment Fund.
The Foothills Shooting Complex is located at 283 Fielding Road in Cherryville. Starting Nov. 1 through February, the shooting complex will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. From March through October, operating hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The complex is closed on Monday and Tuesday throughout the year. A daily pass is $10.
