SWAN QUARTER, N.C. (Nov. 21, 2016) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, Hyde County Soil and Water Board and Hyde County commissioners will host a public meeting on Nov. 29 to discuss a stakeholder-driven planning process for the Lake Mattamuskeet watershed. The meeting will occur at 7 p.m. in the Mattamuskeet High School cafeteria located at 20392 U.S. 264 in Swan Quarter.
This meeting will update local stakeholders on the status of Lake Mattamuskeet. It will also provide information on current research initiatives that collect information needed to form strategies to improve water quality and hydrology within the watershed. Representatives will answer questions regarding upcoming research projects and programs and seek input from attendees regarding planning for the watershed. Stakeholder input is an essential step in the planning process.
