Prescribed Burn Conducted today on Three Game Lands

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 26, 2015) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is continuing three prescribed burns today on the following game lands:

WHERE: Threelocations:

  • Chowan Swmp Game Land – 45 acres of the Wiccacon tract  in Hertford County, 2 miles northeast of Harrellsville. 
  • Sandhills Game Land - 184 acres in Richmond County. GPS coordinates: 35.03963  79.6464
  • Holly Shelter Game Land - 583 acres in Pender County, 5 miles west of Hampstead. This will be a prescribed burn using a helicopter.

WHAT:  Prescribed burn to reduce pine litter and undesired vegetation, and to stimulate growth of native vegetation to benefit wildlife.
