Pechmann Center Offers Free Beginners Fly-Tying Course on Nov. 9

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 11, 2019) – The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center will offer a fly-tying course on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This course provides participants with a basic knowledge of fly-tying tools, materials, patterns and tying techniques. Participants will complete six fly patterns over approximately eight hours of instruction. All tools and materials are provided, and each participant will receive a fly-tying handbook for future reference.

The course is suitable for ages 12 years and older. However, participants 12 to 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Online registration is required for the workshop, which is open on a first-come, first-served basis.

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim. Commission staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.
