WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2020) —The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s National Archery in Schools (NASP) state tournament will occur on Feb. 14–15 in the Education Building at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. More than 10,000 arrows will fly during the two-day tournament. Approximately 800 students from 32 schools across the state, including Elementary, Middle School and High School divisions, will compete for the title of North Carolina State Champion. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female individual archers, and to the top-scoring team in each division. Additionally, a $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to the top-scoring high school male and female archers. Elementary schools will participate on Friday, Feb. 14 beginning at 8 a.m. Middle and high schools are scheduled to take aim beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The National Archery in Schools Program teaches and promotes international-style target archery as part of an in-school curriculum to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports among students in grades 4-12.
