MARION, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2019) – Due to unexpected construction delays, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will not re-open the Black Bear Boating Access Area on Lake James until Nov. 6.

The agency had closed the area on Oct. 14 to renovate the parking area and replace a stormwater drainage pipe. The nearest alternative boating access area is Linville River, located on N.C. 126 in Nebo. To locate other boat ramps in the area or for more information on boating in North Carolina, visit the Commission’s online locater map.
