N.C. Wildlife Officers are responding to relief efforts due to Hurricane Florence. As of Sept. 19, 34 officers activated and have rescued 98 citizens. These efforts by the Commission’s Enforcement Officers will continue until emergency management officials declare the efforts are no longer needed.

Staff from Land and Water Access Division and Wildlife Education Division are currently assessing the damages to the  Commission's infrastructure and are awaiting the call to assist with rescue/recovery efforts as needed. The Commission manages 92 game lands statewide, consisting of more than two million acres. Either independently or with cooperator assistance, the Commission also provides the public with 242 boating access areas, 225 public fishing areas, and 10 shooting ranges and three archery ranges. Hurricane Florence has had a substantial impact on many of these resources.
