Help Conserve Wildlife: Donate on Line 30 of State Income Tax Form
With tax season here, the Wildlife Commission is asking taxpayers to help conserve North Carolina’s nongame and rare wildlife species by making a donation to the Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Fund on line 30 of their state income tax form. Learn more about the program and how to donate.
Calling All Turkey Hunters: Free Seminars in March
The Wildlife Commission, along with the National Wild Turkey Federation, is offering 14 free turkey hunting seminars across the state in March. Seminars will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., and are for novice and experienced turkey hunters. For topics, schedule and registration.
Photo Competition Winners Announced
The Wildlife Commission has announced the winners in its 12th Annual Wildlife in North Carolina magazine photo competition. Reminder: Comment Period for 2017-18 Proposed Regulation Changes Closes Feb. 1
The Wildlife Commission conducted nine public hearings in January to gather comments on proposed changes to 39 agency regulations. The comment period closes at midnight on Feb. 1. Submit your comments online or email them to regulations@ncwildlife.org. Read all proposed changes.

Federal Officials Seek Help in Red Wolf Death Investigation
A federally protected red wolf was shot dead on Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in Washington County in December. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is asking for help in the investigation. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the successful prosecution in this case. More
Ladies: Learn How to Fly Fish at Workshop in Fayetteville on March 11
The Wildlife Commission is offering a women-only fly-fishing workshop for participants 18 and older at the Pechmann Center on March 11 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Learn the basics of fly fishing in the morning and go fishing in the afternoon. Preregistration is required and $20 fee covers rods, reels, equipment and lunch. Learn more and register.
Wildlife Diversity Award Nomination Period Ends Jan. 31
The last day to nominate someone for the Thomas Quay Wildlife Diversity Award is Jan. 31. The Wildlife Commission presents this award annually to people who provide leadership in the conservation of nongame wildlife in North Carolina. Learn more and nominate someone today.
