RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 30, 2015) — Due to continued rains, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has closed Conoho Road on the Lower Roanoke River Wetlands Game Land, located in Bertie and Martin counties.

Earlier this week, the agency closed several of its boating access areas, as well as roads on several southeastern game lands due to high water conditions.

The following boating access areas are currently closed:

  • Fayetteville (Old 87) in Cumberland County
  • Tory Hole in Bladen County
  • Elwells Ferry in Bladen County
  • McNeils Ridge in Robeson County
  • High Hill in Robeson County
  • Lennons Bridge in Robeson County

The agency also has closed the following game land roads due to high water.

  • River end of Whitehall Road in Whitehall Plantation Game Land, located in Bladen County
  • Camp road on Whitehall Plantation Game Land from about 1/4 of a mile in to river
  • Lake Road, just past the dam; Sandridge Road and Loop Road on Suggs Mill Pond Game Land in Bladen and Cumberland counties

Commission staff will assess conditions later in the week and open access areas and roads as conditions warrant.
