Kayak Fish and Float Workshop
On April 9, the center, along with the Fort Bragg/Fayetteville chapter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, will host the 5th Annual Kayak Fish and Float Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Capt. Jerry Dilsaver and Mark Patterson of the North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association will instruct participants on:
· Kayak safety and rigging
· Inshore kayaking fishing
· Kayak fishing for mackerel
· Kayak fishing for bass
· Kayaking basics for panfish
While participants will not kayak fish at the event, they will have an opportunity to test paddle a variety of popular kayak brands, such as Hobie, at Lake Rim, provided by sponsors Hook, Line, and Paddle, of Wilmington, and the Southern Outdoorsman, of Fayetteville. The Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing group will have burgers and hot dogs available for lunch for a small donation.
Family Fishing Workshop
On April 16, a Family Fishing Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to families with children 7 and older who want to learn the basic skills needed to go fishing. Among the topics covered in this hands-on workshop are:
