DURHAM, N.C. (May 26, 2017) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, along with the Wake County Wildlife Club, is offering a women-only shooting sports workshop on June 10, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The workshop, which is free, will be held at the Wake County Wildlife Club, located on 1213 Coley Road in Durham.

Participants will learn the basics of shooting a rifle, shotgun and pistol, as well as a bow and arrow. Snacks and a light lunch will be provided.

The workshop, which is part of the Commission’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program, is open to women 18 and older on a first-come, first-serve basis to the first 40 registrants.  Pre-registration is required (ncwildlife.org/BOW).

Instruction will be outside on the shooting range, rain or shine, so participants should dress accordingly. Participants should bring sunscreen, rain gear (if applicable), insect repellant, folding chair, hat and water bottle. Firearms and bows will be provided and no personal firearms will be allowed.

“This workshop will be tailored to women of varying skill levels — from women who have never participated in any shooting activity to those who know how to shoot but want to learn how to shoot better,” said BB Gillen, BOW coordinator with the Commission.

More information about this workshop and other BOW workshops is available by contacting Gillen at 919-218-3638 or bb.gillen@ncwildlife.org or visiting ncwildlife.org/BOW.
