Get My Deer Tested

CWD testing is available for hunters across North Carolina throughout hunting season. While sampling options will be available across the state, they will be more concentrated in the Primary and Secondary Surveillance Areas where CWD has been detected. Testing Drop-off Stations are distributed across the state and available to accept deer for testing any day of deer hunting season. Just bag the head of your deer and leave it in the freezer with a data tag (provided) filled out. Locations are shown below on the interactive map, click on individual locations for the address and other info.

NCWRC Staffed Check Stations are run at select locations across the state, often at cooperating processors. They provide an excellent opportunities for NCWRC staff to collect CWD samples as well as other biological information from deer. See schedule below for locations. Check stations are reliant on processor business hours and are subject to cancellation.

Processors or Taxidermists who are Cervid Health Cooperators can submit a sample from your deer for testing when you use their business. The NCWRC works with these partners to collect samples from deer brought to their facilities for processing or taxidermy.
